This Master is for candidates who possess a degree in architecture, design, or relevant work experience in the creative industry. The course aims to provide students with conceptual, strategic, and operational tools related to the design of objects and spaces. It will also cover designing comfortable and functional environments for different usage as well as the study of furniture, lighting, and sustainable materials.

Presentazione

A multidisciplinary approach in the world of design, through lessons and workshops with professionals, project and method teachers: product design, interior and furnishing accessory design, industrial design and art for industry, with a vision oriented towards the market and the industrial production process.

Projects, lessons and workshops on materials, the development of public and private spaces, the management of industrial processes in all phases, including those related to business aspects, the digital world and 3D printing. At the end of the Master, you will acquire knowledges and skills to face the world of professional design in companies, studios, and design agencies.


PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Raffles Milano’s goal is to develop students with a toolbox of knowledge and skills they will be able to apply in a wide range of companies and agencies. Graduates can pursue careers as product, furniture, concept, and interior designer, or as design consultants, entrepreneurs, or project managers.

- The Master's program is accredited by the Guglielmo Marconi University of Rome. Therefore, at the end of the course, Raffles Milano issues to the student who has successfully completed the course, a Certificate of Attendance. Upon consideration, the same student may obtain the Diploma accredited by the Marconi University of Rome, provided he or she has previously obtained a recognized three-year DALP degree.

Programma

The course includes the following topics:

- Knowledge of materials and production processes
- Development of new public and private spaces
- New products and distribution models
- Human and environmental sustainability
- Project management at all stages, from idea conception to commercial feasibility
- Material recycling and environmental economics of products
- Exploration of new product boundaries
- 3D printing and other new manufacturing technologies
- Lighting, sound, furniture, interior landscaping

In addition to these subjects, students will have the opportunity to visit design studios and manufacturing companies in the design industry, attend trade fairs, such as Salone del Mobile, and fully immerse themselves in the Milanese design system.

- Coordinator: Carlo Forcolini;

Graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, from 1975 to 1979 he worked for ICF De Padova and in parallel began to collaborate with Vico Magistretti. From 1978 to 1984 he lived in London and was one of the founders of Alias and Director of Artemide G.B. In 1992 he founded Nemo, in 1999 Forcolini Lab, in 2005 Oylight. Over the years he has designed for Alias, Artemide, BBB Bonacina, De Padova, Caimi Brevetti, Cassina, Gervasoni, Luceplan, Luci Italia, Joint, OY light, Pomellato and Zumtobel. From 2001 to 2007 he was National President of ADI Association for Industrial Design. In 2007 he was a member of the Italian Design Council and since 2008 he has been a member of the ADI Design Jury. From 2009 to 2016 he was Scientific Director, CEO and Vice President of IED. In 2018 he was appointed by the MIBAC member of the Study Commission for the identification of public policies to support and develop Design and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador of Italian design in the world. In 2020 he received the Compasso d’Oro for Lifetime Achievement. His Projects are in the collections of the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York, in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, in the Design Museum of the Milan Triennale and in the ADI Compasso d’Oro Collection. He participated to exhibitions in Madrid, Los Angeles, London, Hamburg, Cologne, Tokyo, Sydney, Santiago, Moscow, Oslo, Naples, Milan, Toronto, and Brussels.
